I want to break free!

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this surreal time.

First week of "lockdown" has been surreal and tough, it is hard to go from being so busy every day and around people to not having any work, being limited to leaving the house and not being able to enjoy time with family and friends. However, I know needs must! Everyone has to do their bit during this pandemic and the sooner everyone complies, the sooner we can rebuild our lives and start again (which I can't wait for!)

I just wanted to check in and keep everyone updated on what is to come for Alexandra Donald Photography in the coming weeks. I am currently working on new social media posts, updating my website and writing new blogs that will be posted weekly. Some of the blog posts will include behind the scenes, what to bring to a photo session and places in the world I would love to do dance photo sessions.

Although I am keeping busy with my online presence, I wanted to share other ways I have been keeping busy during this time we are all to stay home.

Here is a list of 5 things I have been doing during the week to keep physically and mentally active :

1. Watch a TV program.

For someone who doesn't get the chance to watch a lot of TV during the week normally, being able to sit in front of it and watch something you have wanted to watch in a while, is bliss! I am currently watching Gossip Girl, although you do have to limit your TV time and not sit on the couch all day! The next tips will help you find ways to split up your TV time.

2. Spring Clean

I have set a to do list for around the house. On my list include things like sorting out my clothes, deep cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, hoovering (even though this gets done at least one a week, it's still on the list.) Making a list of things to do around the house help you to complete the task and give you that feeling of accomplishment.

3. Bake!!!

I'm not the best baker in the world, however, I did make a good crispy cake the other day. Does melting chocolate and mixing it in a bowl of crispy cakes count as baking?

Why not challenge yourself to bake once a week? Try something you have always wanted to bake or something that you really want to eat but know would taste better if you bake rather than buy. Next week I'm going to bake peanut butter cookies.

4. Exercise.

When is there a better time to start exercising than being stuck in the house with limited things to do. I would like to give a shout out to all the personal trainers in the world, keeping the world fit from their living room and bedrooms. Exercise is a way to get out of the house too. Go for a walk along the street and back, a run to your shop and walk back, you don't always need to take the car. However, if the weather isn't great, there are so many home workouts available online, here are links to a couple of my favourites:

If exercise isn't your thing there are other ways to keep mobile like simple stretches and seat stretches too, here are links to my favourites :

Exercise is good for your mental and physical health!

5. Set yourself goals!

Goal setting is a good way to keep your brain actively thinking about what you would like to achieve in life or even in a week. I have set myself weekly goals and also goals for the year (almost like New Years resolutions.)

Here are some of the goals I have set this week for the week and for the year :

1. Deep clean the bathroom

2. Write one blog per week

3. Exercise 3 times per week

4. Cook 3 meals from scratch

5. Put photo frames up in the hall

By setting goals you bring your to do list to the front of your brain and means you will achieve them quicker.

Here are more things you could do to occupy your time in the house.

Colouring in

Sudoku

Board Games

Enjoy your families company

Dance classes

Online challenges

Meditate

Read a book

I hope this tips help you to stay mentally and physically strong during this unreal time in our lives. I would love to hear from you all on suggestions on what you would like to read about whether it be photography, dancing or life.
